GED TUTOR FOR WOMEN ONLY(only females considered for position)
Literacy and Beyond is looking to add one additional qualified tutor to work with women in our GED Prep Program at our 2GEN Learning Center. Tutors work one-on-one with students of varying grade levels (8th grade reading and above) who are working through their individual study plans. It is important for tutors to build strong relationships with the adult learners in order to challenge and guide them through their assignments and encourage them to persevere.
Responsibilities for tutors include but are not limited to: Orienting students into classroom practices and familiarizing them with learning materials. Building good rapport and maintaining healthy relationships with students. Correcting lessons and offering positive feedback to encourage learning from mistakes.
Job Requirements Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Have experience teaching in secondary level math, science, social studies or ELA Being flexible enough to work with adult learners of varying ages and ability levels in multiple subject areas. Experience using technology. Ability to pass a background check.
Qualifications Teaching degree (secondary preferred-does not need to be current) Retired teachers encouraged to apply!
Job Details: Small class sizes (maximum 9 students) No "at home" work! (grading and/or lesson planning) Free on site exercise equipment/gym for staff use!
This position is for approximately 22 hours per week and is for the 2026-27 program year beginning August 25th, 2026 and ending June 4th, 2027. All school holidays and snow days off. Signing bonus paid in September 2026 if hired!
