2GEN GED TUTOR/TEACHER
Literacy and Beyond is looking to add an additional qualified tutor to work with women in our GED Prep Program at our 2GEN Learning Center. Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students of varying grade levels who are working through their individual study plans. It is important for tutors to build strong relationships with the adult learners in order to challenge and guide them through their assignments and encourage them to persevere.
Responsibilities for tutors include but are not limited to:
Orienting students into classroom practices and familiarizing them with learning materials.
Following individual study plans created by the Program Director.
Building good rapport and maintaining healthy relationships with students.
Correcting lessons and offering positive feedback to encourage learning from mistakes.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Have experience teaching or tutoring in math and other subject areas at the high school or adult education level.
Being flexible enough to work with adult learners of varying ages and ability levels in multiple subject areas.
Experience using technology.
Ability to pass a background check.
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in teaching from an accredited college or university.
Successful teaching experience in math and other subject areas.

This position is for approximately 22 hours per week and is for the 2020-2021 program year beginning August 31st, 2020 and ending June 18th, 2021. All school holidays and snow days off (unpaid).
